Q）Does Heijo Palace have parking lots?
There are parking lots at the Heijo Place Museum (capacity: 20 cars and some large-sized buses), East Palace Garden (capacity: 30 cars and 2 large-sized buses), and the Excavation Site Exhibition Hall (capacity: 100 cars and 7 large-sized buses).
In addition, a parking lot for buses (capacity: 12 large-sized buses) is located on the south side of Suzakuoji Street near Suzakumon Gate

* The entrance parking lot to the west of Suzakumon Gate is no longer available since the end of June, 2016.
Q）Can you tell me how to access to Heijo Palace?
If you walk from the south exit of Kintetsu Yamato-Saidaiji station, it takes about 20 minutes. If you take the Nara Kotsu bus from JR Nara station, or the west exit of Kintetsu -Nara station, and get off at ‘Nijooji minami 4chome’ bus stop, it takes about 10 minutes to walk from the bus stop to Heijo Palace. ・- On most weekends and national holidays, -the Gurutto Bus- service is also available. Its ‘Heijo Palace Site’ route is an even more convenient way to get to the palace.
Q） Are Heijo Palace Museum, Suzakumon Gate, Daigokuden Hall, East Palace Garden and Excavation Site Exhibition Hall at Heijo Place open every day?
These facilities are closed on Mondays (if Monday is a national holiday, on Tuesday) and at Year-end and New Year holidays.
The facilities are open from 9:00 to 16:30 (last admission: 16:00).

Q） Are there any shop or vending machines in Heijo Palace?
There is a shop in the Excavation Site Exhibition Hall. Vending machines are placed in the Heijo Palace Museum, Excavation Site Exhibition Hall, Suzakumon Gate, First Daigokuden Hall, and western shelter of Suzakumon Gate. In addition, there is a museum shop in the Heijo Place Museum. Because Heijo Palace covers a very large area, we recommend to carry a water flask to hydrate yourself.
